SHM and Trisakti Institute of Tourism Forge Strategic Alliance to Shape Indonesia’s Next Hospitality Leaders
Jakarta, Indonesia – in a move that reinforces the growing importance of industry-academic collaboration, Sotis Hotel Management (SHM), under Sungai Mas Group, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the “Trisakti Institute of Tourism”, establishing a long-term partnership dedicated to developing the next generation of hospitality professionals.
The agreement bridges classroom learning with real-world hospitality operations, creating a direct pathway for students to gain practical experience, accelerate their careers, and contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s evolving tourism industry.
The partnership encompasses internship placements across SHM’s portfolio of hotels and hospitality businesses, structured recruitment opportunities for high-performing graduates, and a broad range of collaborative initiatives including executive guest lectures, professional certification programs, hospitality workshops, curriculum development, industry research, and talent development projects.
As Indonesia’s tourism sector continues to expand, the need for industry-ready professionals has never been greater. Through this collaboration, both institutions aim to cultivate graduates who not only understand hospitality in theory but are equipped to lead it in practice.
“Hospitality is a people business, and the future of our industry depends on how we invest in people today,” said Deddy Effendi, Chief Operating Officer of Sungai Mas Group. “This partnership reflects our commitment to building a stronger talent ecosystem by giving students real operational exposure, meaningful mentorship, and a clear career pathway. We don’t simply want graduates who are ready to work, we want future leaders who will elevate Indonesia’s hospitality industry.”
For the Trisakti Institute of Tourism, the partnership represents another milestone in strengthening academic relevance through direct engagement with industry.
“Education becomes truly impactful when it is connected to the realities of the professional world,” said “Mrs. Fetty, Rector of the Trisakti Institute of Tourism”. “Our collaboration with SHM ensures that our students learn from practitioners, experience the industry’s highest standards firsthand, and graduate with the confidence and competencies required to succeed in an increasingly competitive global hospitality landscape.”
The MoU signing marks the beginning of a long-term relationship founded on a shared vision of excellence, innovation, and sustainable talent development. More than an institutional agreement, it is a commitment to creating opportunities for Indonesia’s future hospitality professionals while strengthening the country’s tourism ecosystem through education and industry collaboration.
As SHM continues to expand its hospitality footprint, partnerships with leading educational institutions remain central to its mission of investing in people, the industry’s most valuable asset.
